Warning: I'm going to gush about my baby

So I was wondering the other day if my baby is exceptionally smart, or if I just had no idea how smart all babies are. I am going to assume the latter (but of course I really believe my baby is the smartest :) It seriously amazes me that she understands so much of what we say. For example, all we have to say is "Can I have your binky?" and she will immediately take her binky out of her mouth and hand it to whoever asked for it. She barely says anything that could be called a word, and yet she understands so much of what we say to her. Another great example that really amazed me, the other day I was cleaning up all the baby books that she had strewn all over the room (one of her favorite pass-times) and there were a few over on the coffee table, so I said "Regan, go get me those books over there" while pointing to the books. I had to repeat myself a couple times but then she went and grabbed the books and brought them to me. Maybe no one else thinks this is amazing for a 13-month-old, but I can't believe how smart she is. I also didn't think that at 13 months she would be able to show love. But Regan gives the absolute best hugs in the world and if I pucker my lips at her she will lean in so I can kiss her. Sometimes she will put her sweet little hands on my cheeks and just look into my eyes like she is silently saying "I love you." Melts my heart every time!! I knew before she was born that I would experience such joy and feel so much love for her but my love and joy in motherhood is expounded more every day than I could have ever imagined. I am so excited to double the joy and love with another baby. And although I will have seen every stage before, I know I will be just as amazed when baby number two hits each milestone and does cute and amazing little things every day. I love being a mommy!!
