#5 - Picture of a Place I Have Been

The coolest place I have been I don’t remember. I was born in the Philippines on Clark Air Force Base in Manila. I don’t have any memories of the Philippines because we left when I was 2½ due to the explosion of Mt. Pinatubo. That is what the picture if of. It was one of the biggest explosions of the century, spreading ash from Southeast Asia to Central Africa. When it happened my dad was out of the country and my mom had to get my five older siblings and me out of the country to safety by herself. I can’t imagine how scary and stressful that must have been for her, but I am grateful for her courage! More than 700 people were killed from the explosion of Mt. Pinatubo but thankfully we were able to get to safety. I wish I remembered our time in the Philippines; all of my siblings have really cool memories from living there. Hopefully someday I will get to go back there and see where my life began!

Wow! What an awesome story! Sometimes I wish I could say that I had lived in cool places like that. Hopefully you at least have some cool family pictures to jog your memory a little.
