Lexi's Blessing

Last night was Lexi’s baby blessing. Normally people do it at church but we had family coming that wouldn’t be here on a Sunday so we decided to have it at home. We had about 40 people here so it was a leeetle crazy but it was fun and really special. We had appetizers/finger foods for everyone and some really yummy cupcakes. Alexis looked absolutely beautiful in her blessing dress (which was finished only hours before the party in true McEvoy fashion). I was on the fence about whether or not to even make Alexis her own dress since she easily could have worn Regan’s, but I really want each of my girls to have their own special dress that they can hand down to their girls. I decided that if I could find fabric in my mother-in-law’s stash that I liked I would make one and if not then we would just use Regan’s dress. Well, I found a piece of fabric that was just gorgeous and that would be perfect for a baby’s blessing dress. Maryellen said she didn’t care if I used it and that she got it from her mom, so I knew the fabric was old. However, after asking Gigi about the fabric we found out that it came from her mother! I was really excited to find out that the fabric was vintage and came from Lexi’s great-great-grandmother and it made me really glad that I had decided to make her a dress with it. I didn’t have a pattern but thanks to Pinterest I thought I would be able to make my own. It was a bit challenging and there was a lot of seam-ripping along the way but I managed to create a really pretty little dress. I found the trim at Michael’s and paid a small fortune for it but I didn’t care because up to that point I hadn’t spent a dime on the dress and the trim as you can see was just perfect. I had a little left over that I turned into a little flower and glued to a clip which I then attached to the headband that I already had. I couldn’t be happier with how the dress turned out and to be honest, I am dang proud of myself!! And now for the photo overload! :)
